A Transfer Station is a waste receiving facility for waste from locations further away from landfills. Its purpose is to improve the efficiency of transporting waste generated in municipalities located far from treatment facilities, thus fulfilling the objective of optimizing routes and coordinating with municipalities to optimize costs in an agile manner.

Integrated into Valorminho's technical model, as a fundamental infrastructure for the proper management of municipal solid waste, Valorminho has a Transfer Station located in the municipality, parish of Messegães. This infrastructure began operating in March 2000. Waste from Melgaço and part of Monção is deposited and compacted in hermetically sealed containers and subsequently sent to the landfill.
